A Coast Guard helicopter took the pilot to King Salmon, and a Guardian Flight air ambulance brought him to Anchorage, Coast Guard search and rescue coordinator Ray Dwyer said.

The PA-18 Supercub was substantially damaged in the crash, which occurred about 4:30 p.m. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
