KODIAK -- The U.S. Coast Guard is helping the Alaska SeaLife Center return a rehabilitated ribbon seal to the wild.

Story tools

The Coast Guard will help move the 250-pound seal named Diamond by providing transportation aboard an HC-130 Hercules aircraft from Kenai to Cold Bay next Wednesday. Two people from the SeaLife Center will make the flight with the seal.

The seal was found last month outside its natural environment at the Palmer Hayflats State Game Refuge. It was rehabilitated at the SeaLife Center in Seward.
