There are more indigenous Americans living in Alaska, per capita, than in any other state. Last year, 18 percent of Alaskans identified themselves as either American Indian or Alaska Native. Tied for second place were Oklahoma and New Mexico, where 11 percent of the population is either American Indian or Alaska Native.
