STONY RIVER -- A man accused of scaring his family out of the house while in a drunken rage and burning the home to the ground is facing eight criminal charges, Alaska State Troopers said.

Robert "Kevin" Gusty, 33, is accused of firing a gun while he was drunk, frightening his parents and brothers and causing them to flee the house Sunday night, troopers said.

He then set the two-story structure on fire, troopers said. The house was a total loss, but there were no injuries.

Gusty is being charged with first- and second-degree arson, criminal negligent burning, four counts of fourth-degree assault, and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree.

He was being held in Aniak until he could be arraigned.
