Air Guard members on their way home

(Published: July 5th)

More than 50 Alaska Air National Guard members will be returning home over the next few days from tours of duty in Afghanistan.

The guard men and women are for the most part traditional guard members -- airmen who usually serve and train one weekend a month. Most are with the 210th and 212th rescue squadrons, along with support personnel from other units.

About half the returning airmen are expected to arrive Sunday. Others will be coming in through Wednesday.

They have completed 60- to 90-day tours in Afghanistan.
