FAIRBANKS -- Brian Rogers has been named chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Rogers, 58, is a former finance vice president for the University of Alaska system, former member of the UA Board of Regents, a former state legislator, and an economic and public policy consultant. He has been the interim chancellor for about a year.
"I cannot justify an expensive, lengthy national search involving multiple candidates that would, I'm convinced, lead me to the person I have on the job right now," said Mark Hamilton, University of Alaska president, in announcing the appointment.
UAF operates campuses in Fairbanks, Nome, Kotzebue, Bethel and Dillingham, and rural centers in Fort Yukon, Galena, McGrath, Tok and Unalaska.
Roger's annual salary is $262,707.
