Ice jams are threatening more Yukon River villages.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch alert through Saturday evening from Koyukuk to Grayling to Holy Cross.
Holy Cross and Grayling are not among the 30 Alaska communities that already have been affected by flooding this spring.
A large run of ice was heading toward a massive ice jam upstream from Grayling Friday.
Despite no flow at Grayling, the water level had risen 10 feet at Holy Cross, 50 miles to the south. Dan Hancock, a weather service meteorologist in Fairbanks, says that might be due to tributaries feeding into the Yukon.
Hancock says there also is minor flooding in Nulato, but not as a direct result of ice jams. Instead, the rising water level there is from melting ice jams.
