Cell call solicitations outlawed

Gov. Sarah Palin has signed various bills into law, including one that outlaws unwanted solicitations on cell phones. House Bill 93 -- among five signed by Palin Tuesday -- adds cell phones to the section of state law dealing with unwanted telephone advertisements and solicitations. The bill was sponsored by state House Speaker Mike Chenault, a Nikiski Republican.

Palin's office says another bill signed will give borrowers greater protection from unscrupulous mortgage lenders.

House Bill 221, sponsored by Soldotna Republican Rep. Kurt Olson, allows the state to participate in the federal Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.

Palin's office said the bill brings the state in compliance with a section of the Secure and Fair Enforcement of Mortgage Lending Act of 2008.
