Anchorage police arrested two people early Sunday morning after a bizarre traffic melee that included one driver punching another and a stolen Cadillac Escalade hitting a pedestrian.

The fracas began when Benjamin Brady, 30, got into his 2007 Escalade near the Gaslight Lounge on Fourth Avenue, police say.

Brady had been drinking, according to police. He started the Cadillac but was sideswiped by another vehicle before he reached the street.

Witnesses say Brady got out and slugged the driver of the vehicle that ran into him, said Lt. Dave Parker, a police spokesman.

While Brady was out of the Cadillac, 21-year-old Jane Tukrook climbed inside, according to police.

Tukrook stole the vehicle and used it to run down Brady's wife, who she later told police had insulted her and her babies.

Tukrook left the vehicle and fled westbound on Third Avenue, but a bystander slowed her down. Police arrived and arrested her.

The woman hit by the Cadillac, Kristin Trujillo-Brady, had at one point been a passenger in the Escalade, Parker said. She was treated at a local hospital for a severe cut to her forehead. Police said her injuries aren't life threatening.

Both Tukrook and Brady -- the original driver of the Cadillac -- had blood-alcohol levels twice the legal limit for driving, police said.

Brady is charged with drunken driving and assault. Police say Tukrook is charged with drunken driving, vehicle theft, third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree assault and three counts of third-degree assault for scaring bystanders who thought she was going to hit them with the Escalade.

While handcuffed in the back of a police car, Tukrook kicked the rear window frame, doing $500 in damage, police said.
