This Aces road trip is unusual and curious

Strange road trip the Alaska Aces open here in a couple of hours in Boise, Idaho -- six games in 11 days (nothing unusual there) but, catch this, in five different cities and three different states and against five different opponents.

No doubt you are thinking: How strange?

Well, this is the club's 10th season in the ECHL and this road trip has very little in the way of precedent as far as having so many different opponents in so few games.

Back in 2004-05, the Aces played seven road games against five different opponents in 12 days, in two states. In single games at Bakersfield and San Diego, then for two at Fresno and three at Long Beach, the Aces went 4-2-1.

In 2003-04, the Aces plays five road games against five different opponents in six days, in two states. On that trip to San Diego, Long Beach, Las Vegas, Bakersfield and Fresno, the Aces went 3-1-1.

The club record, we believe, for most opponents on a single road trip, can to end the 2003-04 regular season. That trip covered 11 games, nine different opponents, six states and 19 days. Alaska played at South Carolina, Roanoke, Charlotte, Greenville, Long Beach, Fresno, Las Vegas and San Diego. They went 6-3-2.

And last season, the Aces played five different opponents in 11 games over 18 days. That trip to Bakersfield, Stockton, Ontario, Las Vegas and Boise resulted in a 3-7-1 record.
