Anchorage, Alaska – January 4, 2013 – After an extensive two-month search, Sarah Leonard has been named by the Board of Directors of the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) as its next President and COO. Ms. Leonard will replace Ron Peck, who recently resigned from the position after more than ten years of distinguished service and is working through the transition.
Ms. Leonard currently serves as the Director of Marketing and Fund Development for thread, Alaska’s Child Care Resource and Referral Network. Previously, she has served as an Associate Director of Philanthropy for The Nature Conservancy of Alaska, the Statewide Watchable Wildlife Coordinator for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and the Executive Director of the Alaska Wilderness Recreation and Tourism Association (AWRTA). “I look forward to a new and exciting opportunity at ATIA and to rejoining Alaska’s tourism industry,” said Ms. Leonard. “Alaska has many wonderful gifts to share in its wildlife, landscapes and people. I am committed to lending a passionate voice in promoting these experiences and supporting the full spectrum of member businesses and organizations that provide them.”
Ms. Leonard will gradually transition into the position and work full time beginning January 28.
