The self-described local "doomwop" band Historian has a new album called "Romance" slated for release sometime later this year. This comes on the heels of a big 2012, a year in which the recently shuttered Boston Phoenix called the group the best new band in Alaska, and a sprawling overview of the Anchorage music scene over at Spin.com called Historian front man Nate Hurst "one of the best new rock voices since Jim James."

The first single from the followup to the band's "Dream Crusher" EP will be available at the band's show at the S Lounge on Saturday. The track is called "Rebellious Flesh," which will be released as a download code on limited-edition posters designed by Hurst that will also include a download code for a remix of "All My Friends Are Extinct" by Alex the Lion.

Stream "Rebellious Flesh" below and grab a poster 9 p.m. Saturday at the S Lounge. Ghost Hands and Turquoise Boy open. Cover is $7 (21 and older).

Update: Alex the Lion's remix of "All My Friends Are Extinct" is streaming over at the Anchorage Press. You can listen to the original version on the Historian Bandcamp page
