An Era Alaska flight from Bethel to Newtok crashed just short of its destination Saturday, slightly injuring the pilot, the National Transportation Safety Board said Sunday.
The flight was operated by Hageland Aviation, which is part of Era Alaska, according to the NTSB.
The incident happened just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, when the Cessna 207 crashed about 1.5 miles short of Newtok, said NTSB investigator Clint Johnson on Sunday. It's not yet known what caused the crash or if weather was a factor, he said.
The pilot suffered minor injuries but none of the three passengers onboard were hurt. The flight was a regularly scheduled commercial flight between Bethel and Newtok, in Southwest Alaska.
Representatives from Era did not immediately return phone calls Sunday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Johnson said.
