Paroled murderer wanted, facing new charges

Casey Grove

Anchorage police are looking for a paroled murderer facing new charges for assault and eluding officers since mid-May.

Phosavan "PK" Khamnivong was 17 when he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 1998 for his role in the fatal shooting of a cab driver in Kodiak. Police charged Khamnivong, now 32, on May 16 with three counts of third-degree assault, and one count each of failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and criminal mischief.

Khamnivong is also wanted on warrants related to his parole from the older murder conviction, police said in a written statement Wednesday.

Police described Khamnivong as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 145 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call 786-8900 or, to give a tip anonymously, call 561-STOP or visit www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com, police said.
