Zaz Hollander

Twelve Anchorage Fire Department units responded to an early morning fire Friday at a single-family East Anchorage home that left one resident with minor burns.

A caller at 3:11 a.m. reported that a Richardson Drive home was on fire, according to dispatch records. The home is in the Nunaka Valley neighborhood.

Firefighters arrived at 3:16 a.m. to find smoke and flames showing, a dispatcher said. They got the fire under control at 3:30 a.m.

The home's occupants had escaped by the time units arrived, but two dogs were still inside shortly after the call came in, the dispatcher said. One of the residents suffered minor burns but did not require medical transport, she said.

The extent of damage to the home and the condition of the dogs was not immediately available Friday morning.
