Police investigate report of armed carjacking near Northway Mall

A man called police saying he was the victim of a carjacking near Northway Mall on Christmas afternoon, according to a police dispatcher.

The man called 911 just after 5 p.m. and said that someone had stolen his green 1995 Mercury Tracer near 4th Avenue and Bragaw Street, the dispatcher said.

The man said the carjacker had a gun, but didn't hurt him, according to the dispatcher. As of 8 p.m., police were no longer actively searching the area for the man.
