Many in Anchorage and areas north felt the jolt of an earthquake during the noon hour Wednesday.

Preliminary measurements from the Alaska Earthquake Information Center pegged the quake at magnitude 5.06 at a depth of 47 miles. It struck at 12:24 p.m. about 40 miles north of Talkeetna, according to the National Weather Service Tsunami Warning Center, which said a tsunami was not expected.

In Talkeetna, bartender Greg Morgan at the Fairview Inn said he felt about five seconds of shaking.

"There was a little bit of a crack noise, a little shimmy, but it was pretty minor," Morgan said. "No harm, no foul."
