Wilt wins second race in a week

Hallidie Wilt won her second race in a week with a victory in Saturday's Salmon Run at Inlet View Elementary. Wilt, who claimed the women's 10-kilometer title in 39 minutes, 20.05 seconds, also won the Heart Run 5-K on April 26.

Victoria Mayer took first in the women's 5-kilometer race in 20:49.58.

On the men's side, Colin Wolfe won the 10-K by more than four minutes in 33:10.36 while Sebastian Szweda-Mittelstadt won the 5-K race in 18:12.57.

Four, top-10 finishes for the Seawolves

UAA's track and field team recorded four top-10 finishes at Saturday's Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif.

Two came from Tevin Gladden. He placed seventh in the high jump after clearing 6 feet, 4.75 inches and took 10th in triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 9.75 inches.

Two UAA women also cracked the top 10. Sophomore Jessica Pahkala shaved two-tenths of a second off her previous best 800 time, finishing eighth in 2 minutes, 12.38 seconds.

Gaynor Johansen's heave of 125 feet in discus was the best of her career and earned her 10th place.
