Anchorage attorney Yale Metzger volunteers his services at a free legal clinic held to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Mountain View Community Center on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, in Mountain View. About 80 attorneys and other volunteers staffed the event held for low-income Alaskans, assisting with family, landlord-tenant and public benefits issues. The clinic, a public service project of the Alaska Bar Association, the Alaska Court System, and Alaska Legal Services Corporation, was held from noon to six p.m. Similar events took place in Fairbanks and Juneau. Also on hand were representatives of the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission, the United Way Healthcare Navigator, the Alaska Child Support Services Division, the Family Law Self Help Center, the Consumer Protection Unit of the Attorney General's Office, and Money Management, Inc.

The MLK Citywide Choir performed with recording artist Fabrice "Breeze" Clerger during a "Wakeup and Live Again" themed Martin Luther King Jr. benefit concert for the MLK Food Bank at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Anchorage on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. Clerger and the choir will also headline the citywide commemoration celebration at 11a.m. Monday at Bartlett High School. This event marks not only his birthday but the 50th anniversary of his receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
