Prevo seems fixated on others' sex
I read with interest Ms. Elise Patkotak's commentary concerning Jerry Prevo.
This man seems to have an unhealthy and odd interest in the sexual lives of Anchorage men and women.
His formative years must have been troubling for him to carry such hatred into adult life. Here is a man who continually uses the Bible as a weapon of mass destruction.
Remember, Jesus died to take away your sins, not your mind.

Bible is clear on gay rights
Gay rights pundits shouldn't be mad at Prevo. Be mad at God. Prevo is only following the clear biblical teachings, which are derived from the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts.
Claim as you like interpretive challenges allegedly in the Bible rationalized for your agenda. You're ignorant, and people more learned in biblical interpretation like evangelist John MacArthur will say the same thing.
People lack no shortage of imagination for repugnant actions and fetishes. Engaging in these in the privacy of your own home is your business. Parading it in public where the vast majority would find it naturally offensive is unacceptable. Standards of decency should prevail in our country, something sadly eroded the last 40 years, and we're not better for it. Jesus walked the earth 2,000 years ago. How effective would he have been if he dressed in drag or engaged in sexual perversions? Most businesses would suffer if compelled to hire such people. This strikes me much like spoiled children trying to push the social envelope. Even the Taliban have higher standards on this.

State lax on cleaning streets
The sweetest sound in the spring, day or night, is the sound of the street sweeper. Thank you, Anchorage Street Maintenance.
On the other hand, the State of Alaska doesn't seem to comprehend the word clean. The state is responsible for the main roads: Gambell, Ingra, A and C streets, Minnesota, Northern Lights and Benson. Two years ago there was an agreement with the city to clean these main roads, and the city did a fine job. Last year, for some reason, the state decided to bid out the job. The roads were swept exactly once, about the 15th of July. Despite several calls to the state, these roads remain filthy!
I walk and bike, and the dust from dirty roads is a significant air quality issue and impairs my health. Anchorage relies heavily on income from tourists, yet there isn't a single route from the airport to downtown that is not ankle deep in dirt.
With all the money spent on new roads in this state, couldn't a little be set aside to clean and maintain the ones we have in a timely manner?

To veterans, thanks and apologies
On behalf of a grateful nation, we apologize. For your suffering, so often given in vain, the insane masses gave taunts, scorn, or simply forgot.
You never thought to demand our respect and appreciation, you selfless heroes. The depth of our gratitude can never be measured. It exists deep down in the hearts of the proud and emanates from the faces of the reverent.
We live with our failure for neglecting to properly remember you! The shackles of shame harness our souls! We will not deny our fervor for your plight! We won't forget the friends you watched die for us! Holding your anguish close to our hearts will be our mission till our days' ends, for we have those days because of you!
With the thanks of the faceless masses we wish you, our beloved veterans, well, and pray your nightmares cease in perpetuity. Helplessly, we hope that is enough. May the memory of our failure to honor you haunt us until your pain is avenged. So, our friends, on behalf of a grateful nation, we apologize.
