BOB HALLINEN / Anchorage Daily News
Faces are more appealing than numbers, and these testify to the current face of Anchorage, which is just about as varied as the faces of the globe. We don't live in a homogenous community, but one in which almost 100 languages are spoken in our school district, one in which you could probably fill most of the calendar with different ethnic and cultural celebrations, one in which smiles grace faces of every shade under the sun. These portraits by photographer Bob Hallinen were taken in Mountain View, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city, during the Mountain View Street Fair on Aug. 8.
