Calling all Kikkan Randall wannabes. Here's your chance to compete with the best.
For $150, skiers of all abilities can tell their grandchildren they lined up against the likes of Kikkan Randall or Andy Newell in a national championship.
Noon Friday is the deadline to register for the U.S. Cross Country Championships that begin Saturday at Kincaid Park. And unlike most other sports, you don't have to be an elite athlete or meet qualifying standards to participate.
Just don't expect to be mounting any podiums.
For one or two races, the price is $150. For three or four, it's $175. Click over to the Web site www.anchoragenordicski.com/nationals09/ to register online.
Just don't get carried away and start talking trash to Lars Flora on the start line.
