Loreen Hewitt, an ultra-runner from Pennsylvania, set a new Iditarod Trail Invitational record on Monday morning as the fastest woman to cover the 350 miles to McGrath on foot.
Hewitt's journey took seven days, 14 hours, 40 minutes.
That edges the 2005 record of Alicja Barahona by an hour and 20 minutes.
Four months ago, Hewitt set a Pennsylvania record for a 50-mile run by a 50-year-old woman, finishing in 10:20:50.
Eleven bikers are continuing to Nome, with Tim Hewitt and Jose Diego Estebanez expected to join them on foot.
