Here are the top five in the unscientific poll.
DeeDee Jonrowe -- 49% for the veteran Iditarod musher and consistent Top-10 finisher.
Laura McDonough -- 12% for eight-time Susitna 100 footrace winner and the only woman to win the Alaska Wilderness Classic.
Nina Kemppel -- 8% for the four-time Olympic skier and longtime force at Mount Marathon.
Kathi Hirzinger-Merchant -- 7% for the first woman to bike to Nome.
Meg Purdue -- 5% for the McKinley climbing ranger.
Among those mentioned by readers were Gov. Sarah Palin and Mat-Su musher Kelley Griffin, the first woman musher to race the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in the same year.
