DETAILS: Richard Pellessier will present a program called “Stars Are People Too,” with a tribute to Jeff Medkeff. If the skies are clear, the class will view the night sky with binoculars or telescopes. Homer Spit snagging legal

DETAILS: In order to not waste the salmon at the lagoon, snagging is legal for the rest of the year. Weights or bobbers following a hook may be used in the lagoon. All other sport fishing regulations remain in effect.

LECTURES
Nobel winner on climate change

DETAILS: Michael Schlesinger will present “Climate Change 101: Some Hard Truths You Should Know.” Professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Illinois, where he directs the Climate Research Group, Schlesinger received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his work on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. According to Schlesinger, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases is a geopolitical problem of unprecedented scope, and he projects a warming of 4°Centigrade this century. An expert in modeling, simulation and analysis of climate change, Schlesinger has edited four books, most recently “Human-Induced Climate Change: An Interdisciplinary Assessment.” Seats are limited.
