DINNER: Blogs say she'll attend; governor's spokeswoman says she "may" be in the area this weekend.
Is Gov. Sarah Palin going to New York City and Washington, D.C., this weekend?
The Chicago Tribune's political blog and others are reporting as fact that the governor is going to be Fox News' guest at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
But it's not clear if that's true.
"The governor may be on the East Coast this weekend to attend state events and meetings. If she is there, the governor may accept one of the standing invitations for dinner," said Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton.
The Alaska House, a nonprofit arts and culture center in New York, has been advertising for weeks that invited guests can come "sample wild Alaska seafood" with Palin on Friday night at an Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute event there.
But is she going to show?
There is also confusion about whether Palin will be traveling with the National Council for New America, an organization created recently to "re-brand" the image of the Republican Party.
The Associated Press reported that "Palin has joined a list of Republicans who will take part in listening tours across the country."
Right?
Although Palin joined the group, she won't be going on tour and has no events scheduled, Stapleton said.
"If there is something that she can do that benefits Alaskans or Alaska or allows her to keep Alaskans first, she'll participate," Stapleton said.
