Whether sardonic or sweet, songs by Dan Bern and Marshall Crenshaw settle into the heart like twisted thorns.
A regular visitor to Anchorage, Bern draws crowds with raucous live shows that take on everything from sex to politics through banter and songs like “Dr. Seed,” “Torn Flag” and “Shakespeare’s Got a Gun.” Crenshaw also has a bevy of CDs under his belt along with songs covered by people such as Ronnie Spector and Lou Ann Barton.
The two play at 7:30 p.m. today at Discovery Theatre. Tickets are $26 (www.centertix.net, 786-1213). Bern, right, also plays solo at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Vagabond Blues in Palmer. Tickets are $20 (centertix.net). Find out more about www.danbern.com and www.marshallcrenshaw.com.
