Q&A with Alaska U.S. House candidate John Wayne Howe

The Anchorage Daily News asked candidates for U.S. House running in the special primary election to answer a series of questions. Read all of their responses here.

JOHN WAYNE HOWE, Alaska Independence Party member from Fairbanks

What in your background qualifies you to represent Alaskans in Congress?

Forty-plus years of hard industrial work in Alaska. Forty-plus years of paying immoral taxes. Forty-plus years of not being allowed the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

Why are you running for U.S. Congress in Alaska?

The Alaskan Independence Party is the only true Alaskan political party, I am running to encourage all AIP registered voters to run for office!

What would be your top priority if elected to Congress?

Vote against any and all taxes.

What do you think should be done by the federal government to address mass shootings?

Directly, nothing. This is a societal problem, due to the general decline of society. To list here the many federal government abuses that cause citizens to “go postal” would be impossible. It is not what we should ask the government to do, but rather what must be demanded of the federal government to quit doing. When there are too many laws, we all become criminals.

Do you support gun control legislation? If so, what kind of measures would you support? If not, why not?

I do not support gun control legislation. All gun control laws are unconstitutional. We need less gun laws, not more. Yes, even fully automatic weapons should be legal. My ideas are not mainstream; they are Alaskan ideas. To see more Alaskan ideas, please see my YouTube channel, “Alaska for Alaskans.”
