Is there a humanitarian line between forced hospitalization/ medication and people on the street hallucinating, unable to care for themselves and becoming victims of the elements and violence?
When Bill Popp stepped up to endorse and help Suzanne LaFrance with her campaign, I was elated and confident that voters, eager for change, would elect LaFrance in May.
Permanent Fund money is required because Alaska, alone among the 50 states, has no general tax. Or maybe because Alaska has an excessively expensive state government. Or maybe both.
As Ruedrich said, “Advancing to Congressional leadership is critical in achieving Alaska’s goals.” Re-electing Peltola is our best bet to achieve that.
Proposed SB 255 has no concrete language, and harsh monetary punishments, and is wide open for interpretation by law enforcement officers.
I was a student at Inlet View through the 1980s and can attest that the south-facing classrooms were immensely more pleasant than those on the other side of the building.
Pelota certainly has my vote, and according to Mr. Ruedrich’s reasoning, she should have yours as well.
Even many Republicans seem to be fed up with the situation and I won’t be surprised if Ms. Peltola becomes a “meaningful member of the majority,” perhaps sooner rather than later.
Write your representative and ask when these bills will at least be heard in the House Judicial Committee, which would allow for public testimony and comment.
I believe the suffering of Ukraine foreshadows suffering which could be experienced in the United States.

Alaska’s 130,000 students in 50-plus school districts deserve true leadership and a change in narrative. I know they will have it after the election this November.

In the moment, no one knew what was coming, what we were facing. The things LaFrance advocated for were absolutely the right and sensible thing to do.
If I can vote for Murkowski, she can vote for Joe Biden.
Popp has now endorsed Suzanne LaFrance. That means there will be no checks and balances.
Perhaps with a little “off season” preparedness, the next session might begin with well-crafted legislation.
Suzanne LaFrance has the ability and resolve to change our community’s trajectory immediately, and for our Anchorage’s sake, I hope you’ll join me in voting for her.
Far too many times, Alaskans have lost trust in their elected officials by watching the issues they care about ignored and obstructed.
Support ranked choice voting, and let’s extend ranked choice to municipal elections.
It would be helpful to learn what substitute source or other accommodations could be realistically proposed, to meet Anchorage’s essential drinking-water needs.
