The Service High baseball team opened its season Friday by splitting a pair of games in Sitka.
Eagle River got two wins Friday in a nonconference softball doubleheader against Wasilla at The Delaney Park Strip, winning the first game 7-2, and using an 11-run third inning to win the second game 11-5.
Moose Run's Creek Course will open for play Tuesday on 18 temporary greens and tee boxes. Eagleglen will open Friday, also on 18 temporary greens. There is no set opening date for Moose Run's Hill Course.

Laura G. Therchik of Toksook Bay and Mark Kassaiuli of Newtok completed in the kneel jump on April 29 at the 2011 Native Youth Olympics. Therchik finished in 4th place in the girls' event, with a jump of 39-1/2". Kassaiuli won the boys' event with a jump of 66-1/4".
