CBS Sports Network will televise the 35th annual installment of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, the longest running regular-season tournament in men's college basketball.
No big-name schools are coming to the next Great Alaska Shootout, but two blue-chip players from Alaska will return home for the annual college basketball tournament.
Murray State's Isaiah Canaan and Stacy Wilson put on a show Saturday at the Sullivan Arena, combining for 18 of their team's 21 overtime points to carry the Racers to a 90-81 win over Southern Mississippi, the first double-overtime victory in the 34-year history of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

One day after setting a new free-throw shooting record at the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, New Mexico State's Christian Kabongo was racking up points from the foul line again.
One of Tony Delk's favorite memories from his 10-year NBA career was the time he scored a career-high 53 points for the Phoenix Suns, but his favorite memories as a basketball player take him back to his college days at Kentucky, where he won a national title in 1996.
Central Michigan raced to a big first half lead Saturday at the Sullivan Arena, cruising to a 65-48 win over Dartmouth in a fifth-place consolation game at the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
Monty Dyson, a staff member at Anchorage Baptist Temple, put up a prayer Saturday night -- and though he came up short on a 70-foot shot that could have earned him $1 million at the Great Alaska Shootout, he hit enough shorter shots to leave Sullivan Arena richer than when he arrived.
College coaches sometimes liken themselves to surrogate fathers to their players, but in the case of Central Michigan's Ernie Zeigler, you can leave out the "surrogate."
As the UC Irvine basketball team warmed up before Saturday's seventh-place game against UAA in the Great Alaska Shootout, guard Daman Starring asked a question: "What's a Seawolf?" Forty minutes of basketball later, he had his answer.

The UAA women's basketball team has more than held its own against Division I teams in the Great Alaska Shootout, so it's easy to shrug off concerns of coach Tim Moser going into today's game against No. 7 University of Miami. Then again, Moser isn't prone to hyperbole.
