In 2014 I covered the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race for the 12th time, and it was a great year to be a photographer on the trail. The low snow along the first part of the trail and the storms at the end of the trail made for a very dramatic race. The weather was great and we had a helicopter to cover the race!
Later, I spent a couple of days at a subsistence fish camp on the Kuskokwim River in western Alaska and photographed the chum salmon fishery in Kotzebue. For our resurrected Sunday magazine We Alaskans, I headed to Fairbanks to shoot "The Sled Dogs of Summer."
