Best Alaska photos of November

Alaska is a place of raw and powerful beauty. It also has many notable characters with rich stories. And every month offers something a little bit different.

But November 2014 has offered an unusually snow-free start to the season, though it still grew cold enough for Alaskans to get out and do some ice fishing or skating on some of Southcentral Alaska's many frozen lakes. A contentious election season came to an end. Artists and their art were on display around the city and the state.

Check out the visual month-in-review from Alaska Dispatch News photographers and others who capture the lives of Alaskans and the majesty of the state they call home.
