Kodiak siblings Tahna and Talon Lindquist and teams from Anchorage and Juneau were the big winners at the Alaska Junior Olympics swimming championships that wrapped up Sunday at Bartlett High.

Tahna Lindquist claimed the girls' athlete-of-the-meet award and Talon Lindquist was the only swimmer to set an individual state record during the three-day competition. He swam to a time of 1 minute, 53.28 seconds to establish a new standard for boys ages 15-16 in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Aurora Swim Club of Anchorage captured the team championship and produced the meet's only other state record. The team of Reed Dittlinger, Jarod O'Brien, Nathan Alfano and Nathan Lai established an open-division record of 3:32.61 in the boys' 400 medley relay.

The Glacier Swim Club of Juneau grabbed second place in the team standings as well as two top awards. Kenny Fox was named the boys' athlete of the meet and John Wray was named coach of the year.

The meet attracted more than 500 age-group swimmers from across Alaska.
