De Bruyn Joubert works on his Santos Travelmaster 2.6 while in Anchorage on Friday June 12, 2015. Joubert has biked across Australia, Europe and Asia as part of his "Around 7 Continents" expedition, and is preparing to begin his ride through Alaska and Canada.
Bicyclist De Bruyn Joubert already has nearly 9,000 miles behind him on an epic trans-continental ride -- and he plans to set out from Anchorage on Sunday for 30,000 more.
Joubert, 30, is on a quest to ride coast to coast on all seven continents, which includes an ambitious plan to pedal 1,200 miles across Antarctica.
