The Seawolves didn't win a trophy at this year's GCI Great Alaska Shootout. But they left what could be a long-lasting mark on the tournament record book.

Suki Wiggs, the most electrifying shot-maker in years to wear green and gold, scored 30 points Saturday in UAA's 91-87 loss to San Jose State to become the all-time leading scoring in the 38-year-old tournament.

Added to games of 35 Thursday and 33 Friday, Wiggs finished with 98 total points to break the 1993 scoring record of 97 set by Purdue great Glenn Robinson.

Blocked shots, tipped passes, sliding bodies and sloppy offense were the themes of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout's third-place game Saturday.

The battle for third turned into a defensive slugfest at the Alaska Airlines Center, where UNC Asheville's 59-48 win over Loyola Chicago featured a combined 40 turnovers, 12 blocked shots, 12 steals and 57 missed shots between the teams.

At times, both teams went several possessions without making a basket.
