For the third straight year, the UAA women's basketball team came up short in the championship game of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout, this time quite literally.
Led by 6-foot-3 Devin Hudson's 20 rebounds, Long Beach State outdueled the Seawolves 69-60 in Wednesday's title game in front of an announced crowd of 2,554 at the Alaska Airlines Center.
Long Beach (4-1) relied on 3-point shooting in the first half and free throw shooting in the second half to fend off UAA (5-1), which was pursuing its seventh championship in a tournament that dates back to 1980.
