Hundreds of people with legal issues like these -- and not enough money to pay for an attorney -- gathered at the Mountain View Boys & Girls Club Monday for free help from volunteer attorneys.

The Alaska Bar Association's Martin Luther King Jr. Day free legal clinic, now in its sixth year, underscores what the organization calls an "acute" need for pro bono legal services in Alaska.

About half of the state's low-income residents will face a legal need in any given year, an Alaska Supreme Court task force has found.
