Photos: Mountain View mixed-income housing grand opening

The new Ridgeline Terrace mixed-income housing complex glows in sunset light during its grand opening on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in Anchorage's Mountain View neighborhood. The complex includes 10 three-story buildings of five townhouse family units each with single-car garages.

Another four single-story buildings offer five rental units each that are equipped for elderly and handicapped people. Buildings feature solar thermal panels and photovoltaic panels to reduce heating and electricity costs. The Jewel Jones Community Center includes a gathering space, Head Start day care and laundry facilities, though all units offer hookups for washers and dryers.

The development, which also includes a playground, is the biggest project the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has built since 1998. Project partners Kids' Corps will provide child care, the Rasmuson Foundation has contributed funding and Cook Inlet Housing Authority will manage the units.

"Hundreds of people had a vision," said Jewel Jones, who was honored during a brief dedication that included remarks by Bryan Butcher of AHFC, Sen. Dan Sullivan, Diane Kaplan of the Rasmuson Foundation, Jennifer Seamons of Key Bank and Carol Gore of CIHA. "I thank you for the wonderful honor, but it belongs to all of you," said Jones.
