In Anchorage, the first Friday of every month marks the opening of several art shows in the community, but perhaps none is more anticipated than Alaska Photographic Center's (APC) annual Rarefied Light showcase. The Anchorage Museum of History and Art is proud to announce the opening of Rarefied Light 2012 this Friday, Oct. 5.

This year's juror is self-proclaimed optimist Cig Harvey, a professional photographer from Rockport, Maine, whose work is best known for its silent dexterity, modest self-exposure and muted minimalism.
