Photos: Seven storytellers contribute to Arctic Entries

Seven storytellers contributed to Arctic Entries on Tuesday night, October 14, 2014, at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Each had about seven minutes to tell a tale that fit with the theme "So Crazy It Just Might Work."

The series, in its sixth season, has helped about 250 stories get heard so far. Host Matt Rafferty says Arctic Entries attracted just a few dozen audience members in the beginning, but quickly outgrew its home at Cyrano's Off-Center Playhouse. Over the years, they've outgrown several other venues as well. Now, the event regularly sells out 700 seats at the ACPA's Discovery Theater for monthly shows between September and May. Arctic Entries, run by volunteers, is a fundraiser for a different local non-profit each season, Rafferty says. This year they hope to raise $20,000 for Fellowship in Serving Humanity. F.I.S.H., as it is known, delivers food to people in need in Anchorage.
