Photos: Shoppers descend for Black Thursday deals in Anchorage

Black Friday, the traditional day of deals after Thanksgiving to draw shoppers out and kick off the holiday shopping season, couldn't come soon enough for some Anchorage residents, who lined up outside stores on Thanksgiving Day hoping to score a new TV or camera on deep discount.

In what's become known as Black Thursday, some stores have started opening their doors in the evening of Thanksgiving, and shoppers have responded, forgoing their traditional holiday feasts to wait outside stores trying to be the first through the doors to nab the limited-quantity offers. In Anchorage, that meant blankets and warm clothes to withstand the below-freezing temperatures around the city.
