The West High School ski team hosted the Twilight 2x2x2 cross-country ski meet on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Kincaid Park.

About 160 teams of two skiers apiece competed at the A, B, C and D levels, with each skier making two circuits of a 2-kilometer loop created with snowmaking equipment recently installed in the park -- the "2x2x2" moniker comes from the two-skier teams circling the 2-kilometer loop twice.

About 100 more skiers entered the Boys and Girls Open races. With snow in short supply in the area, the man-made snow has made it possible to hold some races in Anchorage, though the brief loop is limiting.

"This is for fun," said West coach Anson Moxness of the short relay format.
