Photos: US Women's Rugby team coaches Anchorage kids

It's not uncommon to see rugby being played downtown on Anchorage's Delaney Park Strip. What made Saturday morning's match stand out was who was playing.

The country's best female players, the U.S. Women's Eagles Sevens, hosted a workshop for local kids and showed off their skills to an audience of dozens of families.

Two of the women on the elite team hail from Eagle River -- Alev Kelter and Lorrie Clifford -- and will join their teammates at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio.

Clifford was playing Division II basketball when she caught the eye of a national team. She then recruited Kelter, who had played Division I hockey in college.

The 2016 Summer Olympic games begin Aug. 5, 2016.
