Led by a strong attack from Mesa Rorher, Valdez overcame a first-set loss to capture the Class 3A state volleyball championship Saturday with a four-set win over Monroe at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Buccaneers triumphed 24-26, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to return to the top of 3A volleyball for the first time since winning four straight state crowns from 2001-04.
