UAA students and staff gathered in front of the ConocoPhillips Integrated Science building to view a partial solar eclipse on Thursday, October 23, 2014. The viewing opportunities were hosted by the UAA Planetarium, which provided telescope views and protective glasses for safe sun-gazing. Omega Smith, who manages the planetarium, said she gets excited about sky-gazing events like this. "I love astronomy because of how much we don't know," she said. "The more we study, the more we realize we don't know." Smith said the next partial solar eclipse visible in Anchorage will be in March 2016.
