Sexy mushers of Iditarod 2012

Sports Illustrated boasts scantily clad beauties cavorting on pristine beaches with wind-swept hair and sun-kissed skin in its popular swimsuit issue. But what would happen if you threw those same models into down snow pants, gaiters and balaclava. Add gale-force winds and subzero temperatures for miles and days on end.

Let's face it, in Alaska grit is king. And the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is a true test of who's got it. But we Alaskans are doubly lucky that some of the sport's competitors can hurl themselves full steam into the wilds of the state for nearly 1,000 miles and come out the other end still easy on the eyes.

And so it is we shamelessly offer the 2012 edition of the Iditarod's Hottest Mushers. Swimsuit models can have their day. But we prefer our pin-ups in fleece and Carhartts.
