Alaska and California Air National Guardsmen are transported to Fort Hood, Texas, along with two HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters that have been configured to fit inside the C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017. The plane was crewed by members of the Alaska Air National Guard’s 249th Airlift Squadron from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The Guardsmen will be tasked with missions to support the Texas National Guard and the state of Texas with search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and as ongoing storm conditions continue to inflict damage. The remnants of Hurricane Harvey continued to menace Texas and Louisiana on Tuesday as President Donald Trump arrived in Texas to survey the damage.
