In Western Alaska, the erosion is causing the banks of the Ninglick River to encroach on the village of Newtok. The situation has left the Yupšik Eskimo village of 360 unable to obtain improvements in services. Therešs no barge service and homes have no plumbing. This summer, military reservists began preparing a site for the villagešs relocation.
