Chugiak, South control their own destiny entering CIC baseball playoffs

Heading into the Cook Inlet Conference round robin baseball playoffs, Chugiak and South sit in solid position to earn the conference's two berths to the ASAA state tournament.

Defending state champion Chugiak (7-0) and South (6-1) hold the top two seeds in the championship group.

Dimond (4-3) and Service (4-3) hold the next two seeds. They Lynx and the Cougars must go undefeated in the playoffs to have a chance at qualifying for state.

The regular reason conference records roll over into the playoffs.

The CIC's other four teams — East, Eagle River, West and Bartlett — will conclude their seasons in the consolation group.

Play begins Thursday at Mulcahy Stadium for the consolation group and Friday at Mulcahy for the championship group.

7 p.m. — No. 4 Service vs. No. 1 Chugiak
